The Chosen Path
05:20

|

This age weaves moral plurality
Relativism is the foul lie that breeds
An agenda is set to dismantle the Truth
Denying any answer with their self-refuting view
Bigotry exists on both sides of the coin
Even further proof of a broken human race
But my path is set, I see One Absolute
Despite the road ahead and the adversity I face
I've made my decision, resolute in my course
I grasp the hand of faith; it gives me direction
Empowering this choice
I am in my journey's beginning
Surrendered to the Truth made Flesh
His Way established my convictions
And His life lives out in me
Face set like flint as my path is forged
Set apart for a different cause
Radical love brings radical change
This is my chosen path, equip me where I lack!
Help me act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly
Despite the road ahead and the adversity I face
I've made my decision, resolute in my course
I grasp the hand of faith; it gives me direction
Empowering this choice

Reframed Identity

You stand there motionless in the wind
Blank eyes to match a darkened mind
Paralyzed by the lies you fight
You don't know where to begin
Don’t look back on the way things were
It doesn’t have to be this way
There is always time for change
Localize the apathy
Kill it at the roots
You can rise through this
Healing is found in forgiveness
Make a break from the lies your past holds
Walk free like you were meant to
As dark as your heart may look
I’m here to let you know
That there is hope that breaks
Through the chains you hold
Mistakes are lessons in disguise
Understand them for what they are
But don’t let them become your definition
You are so much better than your failures
I’ve seen so many people incapacitated
By traps laid through fear!
Don't add yourself to the list!
You are not alone! You are not alone!
Make the break and walk with me!
As dark as your heart may look
I’m here to let you know
That there is hope that breaks
Through the chains you hold
Even in the darkness light dawns for the upright
Those with endurance to stand firm to the end will be saved
Those that fix their eyes on the Author will remain
Walk with me
Let me show you this new identity
You are accepted
Walk with me
Let me show you this fresh reality
You are loved

Each carries opinion like it's absolute truth
Degrading everyone who doesn’t see their view
Words fly like knives with intensity
Watch the wounds bleed as they cut deep
This lack of respect is foolish abundance
A far cry from what it should be
We spit in each other’s faces
Waving the flag of disgrace
I watch as we disregard and tear each other apart
Why do we burn the very emblems that we are called to uphold?
We are in this together
We are called to stand as one
Instead of bringing the edge of division
That tears us apart!
Why are we shooting each other in the back?
To disagree with a view doesn't equate to hate
It's time we met with understanding at the table of grace
Sew your mouth shut if your speech lacks substance!
We can live in unity and embrace this diversity!
We are in this together
We are called to stand as one
Instead of bringing the edge of division
That tears us apart!
We are called to stand as one!

The Graves We Dig
04:30
|
|
||
How easily can one become enamoured with self-gratification?
I have lost my way through it so many times
Hedonistic delusions appear to make perfect sense
When death is as far as existence extends
Choosing this path only leads to a dead end
The results are pointless dividends
What a narcissistic deception
Such a shallow grave we dig
Blindfolding our own eyes
Like it's the only way to live
This obsession creates a dark clouded snare
Devouring! Devouring!
A life filled with distractions only leads to a single destination
Oh such is the weakness that I wrestle with every day
But I don't wanna reach the end of my days bearing a hollow offering
Fruit of a life staring into the mirror, where all I can see is me
No longer slave to selfish ways that lead to the prison of death
I have met the realization that there's more to this life
Than living for myself with every breath!
Forge within me character, integrity, and truth
May my life become a canvas
That paints a portrait of You!
Show me how to tread the path of selfless sacrifice
A radical shift from what I'm taught in this life!
Let's reinvent the way I live
And refine the way I love
Grace to renew
That I may be transformed

Foundations
05:31
|
|

Everyone puts their faith in something
Even when it finds its foundation in denial
Feed the broken with empty hope
A message lacking substance
Confusion will follow
Living for nothing never produced fruit or change
Aimless belief is the worst form of decay
So we owe it to ourselves to know what we believe
Able to give the reasons for the hope that we carry
Dimming the lights, diluting the cure!
This won't lead to a truth that endures
A remedy of relativity is no remedy at all
But as for me I have hope in the Life, Death, and Resurrection
Don't let this world steal the Truth from you
Living for nothing never produced fruit or change
Aimless belief is the worst form of decay
So we owe it to ourselves to know what we believe
Able to give the reasons for the hope that we carry
What do you cling to? Where is your foundation?
Will it endure? And is it worth dying for?
Dimming the lights, diluting the cure!
This won't lead to a Truth that endures
A remedy of relativity is no remedy at all
But as for me I have hope in the Life, Death, and Resurrection
Don't let this world steal the Truth from you
Aimless belief is the worst form of decay!
Surely there must be a better way!

Awakening
05:01
|
|
||
I see where I am
I’ve come to realize I'm living in a constant rush hour
Priorities seem so misplaced
Inherent hunger for significance
Calligraphy engraved deep inside
Empty pursuits dominate time
Slaves to pleasure only result in hollow lives!
It's so easy to overlook this!
If this life is not the end,
What happens when the temporary is as far as our sight extends?
I've only got one life to live
Awaken me and let's make this count!
I don't wanna reach the end of my days
Building with straw when it could have been gold
I've carried these scales on my eyes,
Leaving me lost in the wrong direction
Lift the veil, mend the rift
These shackles need to be broken
Temporary perspective has been held for far too long
If this life is not the end
Then we have gotta get this right
This isn't a game,
where you get a second try
Where is my heart?
Where is my treasure?
What is the purpose of my endeavours?
Is my hope secure or will it fade to rust?
Oh God, I've got to make this count!
I've only got one life to live
Awaken me and let's make this count!
I don't wanna reach the end of my days
Building with straw when it could have been gold

These walls hold secrets and tales of death
A prison lacking hope, no love for life
A stench its decaying breath
But as a light and beacon of hope
His hands reach out to the captives so alone
In this place of abandon
This man of the faith, his cause is the cross
Delivers his prayers to the broken and lost
He served with his life
To give hope to those in need
Trapped in a place no one belonged
He lived what he believed
The soldiers, the captors, blind to the pain
Spit their commands at the prisoners:
“Line up the men! It's time that they pay!
Ten lives will be taken for the one who got away!”
So they dragged the innocent to face their end
And a cry of agony was heard from one of them:
"My wife, my kids! I'll never see them again!
What will they do? What will they do?"
Then the priest stepped forward
And in courageous display
Offered up his life
To take the prisoner's place
This man of the faith, his cause is the cross
Delivers his prayers to the broken and lost
He served with his life
To give hope to those in need
Trapped in a place no one belonged
He lived what he believed
Greater love has no man than this
A life was offered and a life was saved
This speaks of redemption and points to the Way!

My eyes are clouded and in need of repair
I yearn to embody the hope, to which none compares
It's through Your perfection that I see all my flaws
And despite my position, Your grace leaves me in awe
May your love be the lens that gives me new sight
Make compassion my service, Your Presence my light
Centre me in the eternal Son
The Logos incarnate, redemption won
Redemption won!

Why do we listen just to speak?
Can we let the conversation begin?
Why do we listen just to speak?
Can't we see this is a two way street?
Why are we the first to point the finger and the first to take offense?
Have we forgotten that everyone else is as imperfect as us?
Why do we constantly talk past each other without engaging?
How can we expect people to listen if we don't do the same?
Why are we more concerned with the state of our empires
Than the condition of the human heart?
What has happened to our hearts?
Why have we gouged out our eyes, and cut off our ears?
What has happened to our hearts?
Why have we become like this?
Why create arguments like towering walls?
Can't we see past this and watch them fall?
Why do we fail to see that correction does not mean judgment?
Why do we listen just to speak?
Can't we see this is a two way street?

Brood of vipers, serpent tongues
Speaking filth straight into the bones
From the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks
Often it's evident the fruit is from a bad tree
We will give account!
I choose life over death
Flow from my words with every breath
Our words can cause the greatest of storms
Leaving a trail of death
But can also speak of the purest of life
Offering directions to the path leading home
Help us realize the power of speech
How it quenches or creates opportunities
We should bring life with the words we speak
The world doesn't need more death; it needs liberty!
It's not too late to make amends
This is the moment to forsake these fallen trends
I choose life over death
Flow from my words with every breath
Oh God, forgive us our insanities!
We've burned too many forests and sunk enough fleets
I want to call forth life where there is death
I want to see dry bones be covered with flesh!
